Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has reaffirmed the government's commitment to building an inclusive and resilient digital ecosystem during a meeting with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana.
The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration on flagship digital initiatives, artificial intelligence for public service delivery and Ghana's broader digital transformation agenda.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the role of the UNESCO Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) in guiding the implementation of the government's digital agenda.

According to him, the model has helped identify priority intervention areas while distinguishing initiatives that are ready for implementation from those requiring further development.
He also provided updates on ongoing efforts to establish a national fintech fund, which is being aligned with the proposed Innovation and Startup legislative framework to provide a sustainable legal foundation and encourage greater private sector participation.
The Head of the UNDP in Ghana, Niloy Banerjee, outlined progress on three major areas of collaboration, including the Italian-supported digital flagship project, the MSME digital platform initiative and the Japanese-backed artificial intelligence programme for public service delivery.

He also stressed the importance of increased government participation, including co-financing arrangements, to attract additional support from development partners and ensure the successful implementation of the projects.
The meeting further explored plans for an AI and digital governance capacity-building programme for the Civil Service to strengthen policy development and institutional capacity in emerging technologies.
The proposed programme is expected to be rolled out in multiple phases with a strong emphasis on gender inclusion.
Discussions also covered key digital infrastructure projects, including the Digital Youth Village, as part of efforts to expand Ghana's innovation and technology ecosystem.
