President John Mahama has appointed Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency, as Minister for Sports and Recreation.
This appointment was included in the third batch of ministerial nominees awaiting parliamentary approval.
Kofi Adams is expected to replace Mustafa Ussif, who has served as Minister for Sports since 2021 under the Nana Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party administration.

- Kofi Iddie Adams was born on 2 May 1975 and comes from Teteman, a town in the Jasikan District in the Oti Region of Ghana.
- He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with emphasis on Epidemiology of Parasitic Diseases
- He served as a tutor at Adisadel College in the Central Region
- He also served as the Spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs for Flt Lt. Jerry John Rawlings (Rtd).
- He served as deputy General Secretary for the NDC and later as National Organizer for the party.
- He served as campaign coordinator of the NDC's 15-member national campaign team in the 2016 elections.
- He is currently serving a second term as Member of Parliament of Buem Constituency after he first contested in 2020
- He served as a member on the Public Accounts Committee and the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament
- He is a huge fan of boxing and has always advocated support for the discipline
- If approved, he will replace former Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif becoming the 27th person to serve in the office since 1979.
