A presidential aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Poku, has slammed critics who do not believe in his political ambitions.
Mr Poku picked the party's forms to join the NPP flagbearership race on Tuesday, 30th May, 2023.
But many skeptics contend he has no chance of winning to lead the NPP to break the 8.
Reacting to this on Joy FM’s Top Story on Friday, the Energy Analyst said it is only “those who don’t vote who are the ones saying I don’t stand a chance.”
“If people tell me I don’t stand a chance, I am like fine, let’s leave it…,” he added.
He stated that the public will not vote in the process, but that the delegates will, and he is aware of what the delegates are telling him.
For this reason, he will not back down on his ambition based on the views of others, adding that everything is impossible until it happens.
In a related development, Mr Poku has reacted to calls by the NPP Council of Elders for some aspirants to drop out of the race.
Chairman of the Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang believes the party’s interest will be better served if the aspirants could agree on what he calls a consensus candidate.
But Mr Poku says it is too early for the party to deliberate on such a decision.
According to him, there appears to be a gap between the party's top officials and the grassroots with regards to the candidate they want.
According to him, all candidates should be allowed to remain in the race to go through the super delegate stage, adding that that stage will give the party a packing order to test the strength of all aspirants on how they emerge.
