Musician King Promise has revealed he told President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during an encounter that he was the real ‘King Promise’.
The President has been nicknamed King Promise.
However, the musician commenting on being referred to as ‘Nungua Trey Songz’ said he is being nicknamed just as the President of Ghana being called ‘King Promise’.
He told JoyNews’ MzGee, after his performance at the residence of the British High Commissioner during the celebration of the Queen's 93rd birthday, he told the President, he (the musician) was the real ‘King Promise’.
“I don’t mind, I’m from Nungua. Trey Songz is good, I’d rather they say Ghana’s King Promise because I represent my people…,” he said.
“...It’s like people calling the President and calling me the same, I can’t get mad at that. That’s the President,” he said.
Asked what he told the President during a performance at former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’ birthday celebration, the 'Selfish' hitmaker said “I told him, that’s me, I’m the real King Promise, he laughed, we had a quick convo and I just left.”
