A Group calling itself ‘Upper for Alan’ has thrown its weight behind John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen to ‘break the eight’ for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the group, it is time for the former Minister of Trade and Industry to contribute his quota to help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) capture political power.
“If you are a member of the NPP and you want to enjoy NPP and you know the rules and regulations of the party no one will tell you that now it is Alan's turn …and we are ever ready to help Chief Alan do the grassroots work to break the eight,” the group said.
In a press conference in the Upper West Regional Capital, Wa on Wednesday, the group explained that Alan Cash possesses the qualities to unite the grassroots of the party which will help to capture political power in 2024.
“Party is about the number and not the privileged few because number calls for a president to be elected and we are thinking that a lot of us including those who are here and those who are not even here have been deprived and they are sitting with some kind of bitterness in them and we believe if Alan should be on course all these people will be online,” Group lead, Razak Bawa said.
Razak Bawa touching on the achievements of Mr. Kyerematen, said he played a pivotal role in bringing to life some flagship programmes of the party.
“Under the transformational leadership of valuable 'Alan Cash' as Trade and Industry Minister, a record number of Business resource centres have been dotted all over the country, 67 in number, 37 fully operational with workers, and 30 completed and yet to be operational.
“Again the famous 1D1F, a cardinal pillar in the 2016 manifesto of our great NPP has excellently been translated from abstract to reality with the magic touch and quality leadership of Chief Alan as Minister of Trade and Industry,” he said.
These, he believes were exceptional qualities needed to lead the country.
Also, Mr. Bawa encouraged other ministers with the intention to contest the flagbearership positions to follow the good example of Mr. Kyerematen by tendering in their resignation.
“We will like to use this medium to urge all current ministers and party members holding other portfolios in government who intend to run for NPP flagbearer position to follow the good example set by the Honorable Alan and resign from their position as ministers of State,” he added.
