The Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has acknowledged that despite the significant number of jobs the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has created over the past seven and a half years, more efforts are needed to provide additional employment opportunities, particularly for the country’s youth.
Dr. Bawumia said that since 2017, the government has created 2.1 million jobs, a feat unmatched by any previous administration.
However, Dr. Bawumia was quick to emphasise that more must be done to create further employment opportunities.

"If you look at jobs, we have created 2.1 million jobs. It is still not enough, but it is more than any government in the history of the Fourth Republic. We have to do more to create more job opportunities for the youth," Dr. Bawumia said during his tour of the Tema constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.
To achieve this, Dr. Bawumia outlined a number of youth-centered policies his government plans to implement, which are aimed at creating job opportunities.
Among these initiatives, Dr. Bawumia announced plans to build a digital hub in Ghana, which will serve as a catalyst for job creation. He emphasized his commitment to training one million youth in ICT, including senior high school graduates and school dropouts, to equip them with skills for digital jobs both in Ghana and abroad.

In addition to boosting digital skills, Dr. Bawumia revealed that his government will incentivize the private sector to spur job creation. This will include the introduction of a new business-friendly tax regime, offering businesses tax amnesty and a flat tax rate to promote growth and job creation.
Furthermore, Dr. Bawumia highlighted his government’s commitment to investing in technical and vocational training, a sector that has seen significant improvement under the Akufo-Addo administration over the past seven years. This investment, he explained, will continue to play a crucial role in creating sustainable employment for the youth.
