The University of Ghana has culminated the year with an impressive display of athleticism and skill at the West African Universities Games Championship (WAUGC), held at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife, Nigeria.
The event, which witnessed fierce competition from 22 universities across the West African region, saw the University of Ghana emerge as the overall winners, securing a remarkable tally of 10 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Director of Sports, University of Ghana, expressed jubilation at the team's exceptional performance.
In a statement, Dr. Bitugu remarked, "Our athletes have demonstrated not only their skill but also their unwavering commitment to excellence. The technical team and the supporting staff have demonstrated their class.
“The victories at the WAUSF Championships reflect the silent and patient investment, dedication and hard work of our student-athletes and coaching staff. The invested resources are certainly justified."
