The Chairman of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Frank Davies, has described the chaos that transpired at the Tesano Police Training School during a collation exercise as a "complete disgrace to democracy."
This follows a chaotic scene that erupted after political party sympathizers besieged the collation centre.
In an interview on JoyNews' Newsfile on Saturday, December 21, he recounted his experience at the regional collation centre on Monday, December 9, where he was present to oversee the collation of parliamentary election results for OkaiKwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Dome Kwabenya constituencies.
Mr. Davies expressed shock at the chaotic scenes he witnessed, including moments when NDC supporters besieged the collation centre and overwhelmed the police.
“I have been very, very bored and worried about what has gone on in the last couple of days or weeks. And I’m speaking from a background knowledge of being physically present at the regional collation centre on Monday.

"To be very mild with language, it was a complete disgrace to our democracy. At a point, the NDC sympathizers and supporters had virtually overpowered the police. They even held the keys to the room, effectively taking control of the process,” he recounted.
He credited his survival during the turmoil to sheer providence and intervention of National Democratic Congress' Pter Boamah Otukunor describing the atmosphere as “scary” and one that tested the resilience of the democratic process.
He added that the lack of order and the inability of law enforcement to maintain control threatened the integrity of the electoral process.
Mr. Davies called on stakeholders, including the media, to acknowledge and address these lapses to prevent similar incidents in future elections.
