The Chief Operations Officer of Plugin Digital Limited, Francis Doku, has underscored the zero representation of women at higher levels in the creative arts.
He made this statement while delivery the Keynote Address at Joy FM’s Manifesto Debate on Creative Economy on September 14, 2024.
In his address, he said “critical aspect of this discussion in my view the is gender representation. It think it will be a bit of a remiss if we have this conversation and not look at how all genders will be well represented,”
He added that “despite some progress, women remain unrepresented in key decision-making roles within the creative industries.”
Francis therefore noted that while icons like Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Lydia Forson, Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro and others have blazed the trail there are still a lot of work to be done.
Apart from this, Francis Doku touched on some crucial areas to be projected in revamping the creative economy of Ghana. He was emphatic in investment, innovation and infrastructural development.
The Manifesto Debate on Creative Economy which was the 5th edition of Joy FM’s Showbiz Roundtable, was dedicated to getting inside into policy ideas by political parties aimed at growing Ghana’s tourism, arts and culture.
Speaking for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were Sadiq Abdullai Abu (NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikoi Central Constituency) and Rex Owusu Marfo (Member of NDC Manifesto Committee).
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) was represented by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Akwasi Agyeman.
