The Ghana Police Service says its officers have shot dead some two suspected robbers at Manso Dawusaso in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Police, the Regional Command's Anti-Robbery Task Force embarked on an intelligence-based operation which also saw the arrest of one of the suspects.
Per the Service's account, a gang attempted to rob a gold dealer at his home in the Amansie South District on September 24.

At about 9:00 pm that Friday, the suspects allegedly "disarmed the private security guard of his weapon and fired shots into the residence."
But the Police, based on intelligence, had "mounted a 24-hour surveillance on the gang" and "returned fire to protect the innocent lives in and around the property."

As a result, the two who sustained gunshot wounds were arrested and sent to the hospital.
They were subsequently pronounced dead on arrival.
A statement dated September, 29 and signed by the Police's Director-General of Public Affairs, ACP Kwesi Ofori indicated that four suspects managed to escape.
The Police, however, revealed that another suspect, Abraham Kwasi Tetteh, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

It added that four others are on the run and are currently being pursued.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command is said to have also retrieved a shotgun, pistol, and a taxi cab to the Police station.
The Service is also calling on residents, especially around the Amansie South District, to volunteer any information that will lead to the arrest of the four suspects.
