Former Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has urged the Black Stars technical team to put aside sentiment and hand call-ups to Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah for the 2026 World Cup.

The England-based duo have been the subject of discussion since the Black Stars secured qualification for this year's global showpiece.

However, both did not feature in the qualifiers nor make their intentions clear about switching allegiance after attempts by the FA over the years.

"The Black Stars is open to every Ghanaian who is eligible to play," Nyantakyi told JoyNews.

"Some people become a bit sentimental and emotional, ‘oh, this guy dumped Ghana’, but I am interested in people who can help us achieve results.

"People like Eddie Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi, let’s take out emotions and give them the chance if the coach thinks they can compete favourably.”

Nketiah, who has made only one appearance for England’s senior side, has scored four goals for Crystal Palace in all competitions this season.

Hudson-Odoi has three caps for England and has netted three times for Nottingham Forest this term.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will face Panama in their Group L opener before subsequent matches against England and Croatia.
