A member of the 8-member Ad hoc Committee set up by Parliament to consider the motion of censure filed by the Minority group against the Finance Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has stated that the seven-day timeline given them by the House is too much.
The North Tongu MP explained that the subject for deliberation is already clear, hence there is no need for such a lengthy period.
“We are able...we think that the seven days is even too much time,” he said.
Mr. Ablakwa said this in an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story on Thursday.
His comment follows the referral of the motion by the Speaker of Parliament to an 8-member Ad hoc Committee for consideration.
The Speaker gave the Committee a seven-day deadline to submit the report to the House for a decision to be taken.
Mr. Ablakwa, nonetheless, stated that due to the respect they have for the process, they will comply.
The Committee will be chaired by the Adansi Asokwa MP, K.T. Hammond and Bolgatanga East MP, Dominic Ayine.
Other members of the committee from the Minority side are; North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Klottey-Korle MP, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings and Akatsi South MP, Bernard Ahiafor.
The rest from the Majority side include; Okaikoi Central MP, Yaw Boamah, Ashanti Akyem Central MP, Emmanuel Anyimadu-Antwi and Sekondi MP, Andrew Egyapa Mercer.
