Holders Cameroon have been knocked out of the Africa Cup of Nations by Nigeria after losing a five-goal thriller in Alexandria on Saturday.
Goals from Stephane Bahoken and Clinton Njie saw Cameroon lead 2-1 at half-time after Odion Ighalo had put Nigeria ahead but two goals in three minutes swung the game back in Nigeria's favour.
Ighalo equalised before he set up Alex Iwobi to hit the winner.
Nigeria were rewarded for their impressive start to the match with a goal in the 19th minute in a scrappy fashion. Odion Ighalo’s deflected strike somehow found its way into the net.
Cameroon halfway through the first half began playing on the front foot and levelled the scoreline in the 41st minute through Stephene Bahoken, who tuckedthe ball into the net following a pinpoint cross from Bassogog.
Three minutes later, Clinton Njie put Cameroon in front with a well-taken goal as the first half ended in Indomitable Lions’ favour.
Six minutes into the second half, Nigeria nearly scored an own goal had it not been a save from their goalkeeper, Akpeyi.
The Super Eagles struggled in the physical battle which enabled Cameroon to play more direct football with several crosses.
Despite trailing, Nigeria had more of the ball, showed more intent and restored parity in the 63rd minute courtesy Ighalo amid suspicions of offside.
Ighalo few minutes later turned provider as he set up Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi who unleashed a low finish to secure Super Eagles quarter-finals berth.
Nigeria will face the winner between Egypt and South Africa who are in action tonight at 17:00 GMT.
