The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has debunked allegations that it is secretly recruiting individuals.
A statement issued Thursday and signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Supt. Michael Amoako-Atta stated that any news of the security agency secretly recruiting personnel in the media must not be given any attention.
According to the press release, “the truth of the matter is that the Service is currently conducting a screening exercise to select prospective applicants from its backlog of applicants who applied to join the Service during its 2017/2018 recruitment exercise.”
The Minority in Parliament on Wednesday claimed the Akufo-Addo government was “secretly” recruiting party activists into the security agencies, including the Immigration Service.
This, therefore, has drawn the attention of GIS Management to respond, saying the Finance Ministry has given the Service financial clearance to continue with the Validation process of prospective applicants from 2018.
