The Ghana Police Service has arrested and remanded six persons over the missing excavators and other equipment seized by Operation Vanguard.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Service indicated that the Central Regional Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Horace Ekow Ewusi together with five accomplices were arrested on Monday, February 3, 2020.
“Ekow Ewusi, Fredrick Ewusi, and Joel Asamoah have been cautioned on the offence of stealing while Adnan Haruna, Frank Gyan and John Arhin have been cautioned on the offence of abetment of stealing,” the statement read.
The Police further assured the public that further investigations will be conducted to get to the bottom of the issue.

Meanwhile, Mr Ekow Ewusi has been suspended from the NPP party and relieved of his duties as the Central Regional Vice Chairman of the party.
Excavators, pickups and other equipment seized by operatives of Operation Vanguard in an effort to clamp down on illegal mining activities have recently been alleged missing.Latest Stories
