Police in the Tamale has arrested some 24 people at Yong, a farming community in the metropolis.
They were charged with causing unlawful damage to buildings and rioting with offensive weapons.
This is according to the Northern regional crime officer, Superintendent Kwabena Otuo Acheampong.
The suspects and two rival chiefs will be arraigned before the Tamale Circuit Court on March 30.
The chiefs are brothers in the community who have both made claims to be the rightful heir to the skin and this has been a constant source of disturbances in the metropolis.
Their rift had caused tension in the area for the past three months.
On Saturday, March 28, there was a clash between some youth amidst sporadic gunshots leaving six houses burnt.
A number of residents have started leaving the community to flee the violence.
The security service picked up the two brothers on March 29 and they have been in custody awaiting trial.
However, this has not deterred the youth from arming themselves for a showdown.
Some of the residents have appealed to the security agencies to ensure safety by conducting patrols in the area.
