President Akufo-Addo has announced the reopening of tourist facilities that were earlier shut as part of measures to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The President says the move is in consultations with stakeholders of the sector.
"In consultation with the Ghana Tourism Authority and the health experts, I am announcing the reopening of our nation’s tourist sites and attractions, so they can begin to receive visitors.
In March this year, president Akufo-Addo shut down tourist sites in the country as part of measures to curtail the spread of the virus.
Other entertainment facilities such as drinking spots, night clubs, cinemas etc were all shut as a result of virus.
However, the President, in his 14th address to the nation on measures to check the spread of the virus, has indicated that tourist sites can now receive visitors
He also announced the reopening of drinking spots but insisting "beaches, pubs, cinemas and nightclub" remain closed.
He further tasked management of the reopened facilities to enforce enhanced hygiene and social distancing protocols.
