The Ghana Police Service has reassured that violent acts in the Odododiodio constituency shall be a thing of the past as the country approaches the December polls.
The security service stated that it has put in place measures to curb and prevent violence before, during and after the 2020 general election.
Addressing an organised forum on peace and security by the Parliamentary Affairs, Director of Operations of the Service, Dr Sayibu Pabi Gariba said paying keen attention to several incidents, the national security task force has drawn lessons that would inform deployments of officers on the election day.
"The national security task force keeps on reviewing its strategy by considering issues in the country and the clash at Odododiodio constituency.
"We are considering how these events will influence the service's deployment. We will factor them and other relevant issues as well," he stated.
His comments come after a peace walk in Jamestown over the weekend turned chaotic.
Supporters of the NPP and NDC in a circulating video on social media were seen throwing bottles, hauling stones and insults at each other in the Odododiodio constituency on Sunday morning.
The Director of Operations added that the initiative will not only ensure such violent incidents do not reoccur but also restore the hope the citizenry has in the security force.
Dr Sayibu Pabi Gariba mentioned several localities in the country that would have extra attention from the police based on research taken by the service in the upcoming election.
"These are areas of interest. We will be looking at Bono Region, Adwira, Asokore Mampong, Sekyi Odumase in the Ashanti Region, Kasoa, Ajumako among others," he said.
