After a streamline of draws, the Ghana Premier League returns with some promise when Kotoko square off with Berekum Chelsea and Hearts of Oak finally join the party when they welcome AshGold to the Accra Sports Stadium.

After some surprising turn of events on match week one which saw a goalkeeper score from a direct free-kick, here's what to expect in week two.

Hearts face difficult home test

After having their season delayed due to complications surrounding Covid19, Hearts of Oak will on Tuesday evening, start their 2020/21 campaign by playing hosts to Ashanti Gold at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The first match week of the Ghana Premier League witnessed seven draws and expect Hearts and AshGold to end match-day 2 of the season by replaying that occurrence.

Over the last five years, the two clubs have met a total of eight times in the league with the pair recording two wins each and the remainder ending in a stalemate.

That stalemate streak looks set to continue.

Another Kotoko and GFA showdown

If there was no talking point in any of the games throughout last weekend, then Asante Kotoko and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) certainly broke that dull duck.

As part of many attempts to place Kotoko in a better standing in both business terms and on the field, the Porcupine Warrirors signed a deal with Veo Technologies to support the club with match and player analysis.

The GFA and Kotoko had a confrontation with regards to Veo's rights to film Ghana Premier League games after the GFA sold exclusive rights to broadcast partners, StarTimes.

The game was only allowed to continue after Kotoko threatened to boycott the game if Veo were prevented from filming.

Monday is the ultimatum but Kotoko have a fixture against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday and with the current stance of both bodies, a part two of last weekend's confrontation is expected and ready for the drama aren't we? Yes, we are.

Another goalfest?

Yes, the first week was quite disappointing in terms of the many stalemates but there is an upside to that - only one game ended goalless.

Two games on matchday one ended in four goal thrillers and King Faisal took WAFA all the way in a 3-4 loss.

23 goals in total were recorded and with teams looking out for wins this matchday after disappointing draws, they will be going out for blood which could lead to more goals.

Razak Issah beauty

Put away Kotoko vs GFA and you have yourself possibly the biggest conversation of the Ghana Premier League.

The Ebusua Dwarfs goalkeeper, is already amongst the top goal scorers of the Premier League. His goal was far from the ordinary as he scored the equaliser for his side from a free-kick.

Dwarfs face Techiman Eleven Wonders on Friday at 3pm and Wonders manager Ignatius Fosu urged his side not to concede any needless free-kicks around their box.

However, a football match will always attract fouls leading to the possibility of another jaw-dropping strike from Issah.

Knocks and injuries likely

Injuries to players is likely to take centerfold on match week two. Teams have not been in competitive action since March and though some players undertook individual training schedules, it was obvious in week one that some teams didn't have adequate preparation thus negatively affecting fitness of their players.

Ashantigold SC duo, Samed Ibrahim and Mark Agyekum got injured in the first half of their game against Karela United on match week one at the Len Clay Sports Stadium while

Asante Kotoko winger, Augustine Okrah also sustained an injured in Kotoko's game against Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Head Coach of Ebusua Dwarfs has also confirmed 3 of his key players will not feature against Techiman Eleven Wonders due to injuries. The players are Simon Martey, Mark Acquah and Albert Gaisie.

Considering the unfortunate trend, match week two might continue in the same vein with the likelihood of more injuries occuring.
