The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not relenting on its resolve to hit the streets in protest of the results declared by the Electoral Commission regarding the December 7 polls.
NDC supporters in the various regions have taken to the streets to protest what they describe as fraudulent polls.
Yesterday there were demonstrations in Sefwi Wiawso and in Kumasi as well.
This morning, Wednesday December 16, supporters of the NDC are back on the streets of Tamale clad in red and holding placards with inscriptions such as ‘The Stolen Verdict’, ‘We voted for change so shall it be’ etc.
The protest ended after 2 hours of walk through the principal streets of Tamale when they converged at the Jubilee Park in Tamale and were addressed by party leaders.
The first Vice-Chair of the party, Sofo Azorka believes that the NDC won the 2020 Presidential elections and for that matter, president-elect Akufo-Addo should vacate the presidency.
The Northern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ibrahim Mobila also addressed the crowd, giving a 3-day ultimatum to EC Chair Jean Mensa to to declare John Mahama, the Presidential Candidate for the NDC as President-elect.
In the absence of that, he indicated that the NDC would continue to demonstrate until they get the results they want.
In nearby Upper West Region, NDC supporters fired knockouts, burnt tyres, among others in front of the EC’s building in protest of the results of the December 7 polls as declared by the EC on December 9.
According to them, they have identified a lot of anomalies in the just-ended elections and have thus called for a re-collation of the December 7 polls as they are certain that John Mahama will emerge winner of the Presidential elections.
