A 50-bed health diseases facility set to serve the general public in the fight against Covid-19 has been left uncompleted over a year at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The facility was to be completed in 30 days to help stem the tide in the fight against Covid -19 in the country.
But as it stands now, the construction project is far from being completed with the number of positive covid-19 cases increasing rapidly.
The construction project officially began in March 2020, with the lands being cleared with the hope that the facility would be completed within a month.
However, a visit to the site by Joy News' Daniel Dadzie, he said, the ceiling has not been fitted in, a lot of plastering has not been done, wiring is still ongoing and there are empty spaces for doors to be fitted and iron rods rusting.
Some residents interacting with the reporter said: “The crew of workers supposed to wire the facility came back to work on the 24th, went on break, returned on January 1.
"We went on break again and reported on January 7, which was the last time."
"And it is expected that they would come back to work sometime this week to complete the wiring to enable the others to proceed with their work,” the workers said.
Hospital Authorities failed to comment on the issue.
