The Volta Regional Prisons Commander, DDP Andrews Kwasi, has made a passionate appeal to the citizenry to patronize the services of the prison's inmates.
According to him, this will help generate some funds to support the running of the prisons since monetary allocation by the government is inadequate to sustain its operations.
Speaking at the Service's end of the year party in Ho, Mr Kwasi indicated that most of the inmates are skilled and therefore need Ghanaians to patronize their products and services.
"I want to use this opportunity to advertise our tailory unit, if you have uniforms to sew our tailors are available they can do it for you expertly with very moderate charges so please patronize our tailor unit."
Tailoring, block molding, carpentry, masonry are among the trades plied by some of the prisoners, he enumerated.
Authorities say the feeding allocation of GH₵1.80 per inmate is not enough.
In an attempt to salvage the situation the prison facilities have begun engaging in economic activities to generate additional funds.
"I am appealing to our sister security institutions and individuals here, we are ready to execute such projects," he concluded.
