Help has come the way of a 17-year-old junior high school graduate who was among victims of an arson that killed one person at Meduma in the Ashanti Region.
Dennis Kodua was getting ready to start school at Amaniampong Senior High School in Mampong when the fire consumed all purchased items in his prospectus.
His mother, who hawked provisions and detergents to save for her son's education, also lost her business and money to the fire.
"I had saved this money for months only to get my son into school but unfortunately all is lost,” Agnes Appiah told Luv FM.
“Probably, he has to wait another year since I don't have any money to take him to school. All my wares I hawk are also gone".
A distraught Dennis was worried he might miss out as there was no hope of getting his items to start school.
His plight touched some benevolent listeners of Nhyira FM and Luv FM in Kumasi who reached out to support Dennis get to school. An amount of ¢2,500 was raised to support the teenager’s education.
Dennis and his mother are full of joy and gratitude for the intervention.
"I thank all who contributed to get me into school, I promise to study hard so I get the opportunity to enter the military after school," young Dennis said, smiling in his face mask.
On the dawn of Tuesday, March 16, a disgruntled lover allegedly started a fire for unknown reasons.
Kwaku Agyemang is believed to have wet a blanket with petrol and thrown it into a room where his fiancé and her three children slept.
One of the children was burnt to death as the others were saved by tenants of the house but sustained injuries.
