Former Black Stars player, Malik Jabir, has stated that the recent appointment of a second assistant coach for the senior national team is a plot to boot David Duncan, the first assistant out - or CK Akonnor himself.
Last week, the GFA announced that Patrick Greveraars, a Dutch coach, has joined the ranks as a second assistant to CK Akonnor to help the team in their quest for major honors.
After hearing the news, Jabir concluded that Duncan's role as the first assistant is under threat.
“CK is not happy with him, he wants to get rid of him. That’s the feeling of Duncan now. And aside from that it also happened during CK Akonnor’s time. It was Tanko or was it Konadu who was the assistant for Kwasi Appiah," Jabir told Accra-based Class FM.
“Yes, when he didn’t want them or when he didn’t want his assistant, they got them out and brought him. And within one month, two months, he himself was out, and then CK took over."
“It is the same thing that they are trying to do. This is very clear. They want to get out Duncan. Duncan will be out soon. Either Duncan will be out or CK himself will be out soon,” he concluded.
Duncan has gained a lot of experience on the local scene, managing the likes of Ashanti Gold, Hearts of Oak, and Asante Kotoko.
