Some staff of La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Wednesday held a protest to demand the dismissal of the Chief Executive, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah due to alleged mismanagement of funds.
The protestors were also agitated over the nonpayment of pension contributions by the hotel.
According to the workers, the Tier 1 SSNIT contributions have not been paid from May 2019 to date.
They also allege that Tier 2 of Glico and employees end of service benefits scheme suffers the same fate from the same time frame.

"About 80% resigned and retired staff end of service benefits are still in arrears since 2019, some have even died without enjoying the fruits of their labour."
In this regard, the Local Workers Union Chairman of the La-Palm Royal Beach, Mary Attoh, in an interview maintained that the CEO of the Hotel must be sacked.
The demonstrators revealed that Madam Amoah’s contract expired in November 2021 therefore there was no need for it to be renewed so as to keep her in office.
“The contract of the CEO expired since August 2021, this was extended to November 2021 by the board, as we write this petition the CEO has requested for another 3 months extension i.e., February 2022 which suggest that she has refused to hand over and go.”

The aggrieved workers in a petition noted that "bad decisions taken by the CEO on procurement without regard to the technical advice from HOD which has currently caused financial loss to the hotel”.
“Since 2018, there has not been a working budget, marketing plan or strategy to run the business of the hotel and the current state of the hotel is worrying i.e.; the facility is deteriorating,” they stated in the petition.
This is the second time the workers are demonstrating for the removal of the Chief Executive of the Hotel after the first in 2018. Also, today marks the fourth time the workers have demonstrated over end-of-Service benefits.
