On Monday, May 2, the Central Regional Qualifiers of the 2022 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) commenced.
Four contests were held on that day to provide 20 schools the opportunity to secure some four national championship slots.
The first contest featured Gyaase SHS, Twifo Praso SHS, T.I. AMASS, Ekumfi, Jukwa SHTS and T.I AMASS, Potsin.

At the end of this race, T.I. AMASS, Potsin claimed the victor's crown with 49 points.
The second contest also saw five schools battle it all out. At the end of it all, Aggrey Memorial outclassed its rivals; Assin North SHS, Kwanyako SHS, Senya SHS and Kwegyir Aggrey SHS.

The much-anticipated contest among the four was Contest 3. This was because all eyes were on two-time champions Mfantsipim School.
Mfantsipim School (Botwe) competed with Bisease SHS, Nyakrom SHTS, Efutu SHTS and Gomoa SHTS. Living up to expectations, Botwe booked a slot at the national championship.
Mfantsipim School won the race with 52 points. Its score was more than double the points earned by its closest contender, Bisease SHS. Bisease SHS garnered 24 points.
The last contest of the day featured Eguafo Abrem SHS, Odupong SHS, Abakrampa SHTS, Assin Nsuta SHS and Nyankumasi SHS.

The fourth national championship slot went to Eguafo Abrem SHS at the end of the day. They progressed to the next stage of the competition with 39 points.
