Five people have been hit by stray bullets at a protest in Bibiani on Wednesday.
The demonstration was to prevent Anhwiaso traditional area delegates from performing rituals for a gold corporation to begin mining in the Bibiani township.
The victims were shot by unidentified persons carrying guns while others wielded cutlasses and stones.

During a heated argument between the two groups, the youth explained that the delegation has no right to perform the rituals.

The agitated persons were of the view that the chief of Sehwi Bibiani was in the best position to perform the ritual.

They were rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital and the Divine Love Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Bibiani Divisional Police Commander, ACP James Amoako Achamfour, has advised the youth to desist from any form of disturbance in the area.
