Richard Boadu has been named as Asante Kotoko's new captain for the 2022–2023 season.
He steps in for outgoing captain Ismail Ganiyu, who has asked for his contract to be terminated and is expected to quit the team.
Boadu has only been with Kotoko for a year but has been offered the chance to lead the Premier League Champions for the upcoming season.
With changes in the ranks, Boadu will be assisted by Yussif Mubarik, Ibrahim Danlad, Christopher Nettey and newly-signed Pouaty Dendoum.
Kotoko is in Sudan preparing for the upcoming campaign. They will compete in four friendly games during their two weeks in the nation of North Africa.
