A medical doctor with the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu in the Central Region has died in a car crash at Anwiaso in the Adansi Asokwa District of the Ashanti Region.
The crash according to eyewitnesses, occurred at about 5 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
The deceased, Dr Patrick Yamoah, a gynaecologist and lecturer at the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences was reportedly driving towards Kumasi when the incident occurred.
According to the Adansi Asokwa police, the medical doctor’s Nissan Versa vehicle with registration number AW 1514 – 22, collided head-on with a petrol tanker with registration number GT 8679 – 22. Dr Yamoah died instantly.
The tanker, it is reported, was heading from Wassa Akropong to Assin-Fosu.
An eyewitness indicated: “the tanker driver was driving carelessly and “he nearly killed a tricycle (pragyia) rider at Asokwa Junction, so we are not surprised about the accident.”
According to sources, Dr Patrick Yamoah made merry with his colleague at the hospital after he conducted two successful surgeries earlier the same day.
He is said to have left the hospital for Kumasi after work.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the New Edubiase government hospital for preservation.
Meanwhile, the driver of the tanker has been arrested by the Adansi Anwiaso Police Command and is assisting them with investigations.

Colleagues of Dr Patrick Yamoah, both at the University of Cape Coast and St. Francis Xavier Hospital are shattered at the news of the passing of the medical doctor who they describe as a great asset to the medical fraternity.
