A former Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Wilfred Kwaku Osei, has called on Kurt Okraku's administration to accord their predecessors some respect.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Joy Sports, Palmer, as he is affectionately called, described as unfortunate the denigrating of Kwesi Nyantakyi's administration.
Mr Okraku during the GFA 28th Congress last month revealed that “the GFA has successfully taken ownership of the Prampram land which until recently, did not fully belong to the GFA. We never had documents to the land, but now we do.”
These statements Palmer says are "unfortunate."
"Prampram, that land was acquired," the former Black Stars Management Committee Chairman stated.
"You cannot tell me GFA will leave its office and bypass all lands and go to a specific place and say that 'this is where we want to develop' if we have not been given access."
Mr Osei revealed that the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence land was in dispute and the FA under Nyantakyi was going through the legal process to secure ownership of the property.
"The only thing that happened was that the family that we bought the land from was the wrong family. The matter went to court and the court decided that the land should be given to another party. That's how the recent executives made payments to the new owner.
"The statement made by the current executives is unfortunate. We were pursuing the perfection of the documents, so if you come and you have been able to perfect the documents, you say 'fortunately for us we have been able to perfect the documents. Don't say that 'we have not been able to acquire, the moment you do that, you are demarcating the football family.
"If someone had not acquired the land, how would you be able to perfect the documents? Let's give credit where it is due rather than trying to belittle what the past executives had done. That's very unfortunate," he lamented.
