Rapper and songwriter, Kwame Nsiah-Apau, popularly known as Okyeame Kwame, has explained why he hosts his "Hip Life Party" at +233 Jazz Bar & Grill every year.
According to him, +233 Jazz Bar & Grill, which is one of Ghana’s jazz and live music clubs, is the best hub of live music sound across the country.
Speaking to Ib Ben Bako on Prime Morning, "the Rap Doctor," as he is known, said he has performed at different clubs, but "+233 Jazz Bar & Grill" tops them all.
"It’s +233 for a reason. They have the best music sound in the whole country. We’ve been there before, and the experience is extraordinary. They have the best sound quality. So for people who really like quality, that’s the place to be," he said.
When asked why he introduced the initiative, he replied, "I realized that as part of my Made in Ghana agenda, we’re not selling only clothes and cars that are assembled here, and philosophy that is Ghanaian in nature."
"We’re also looking at the culture, and Hip life is a very integral part of the culture of art in Ghana. So, I do not want it to just dissolve in the night. The main idea here is to keep Hip life artistes performing and keep the name running."
Even though Hip life is not the trendiest genre of music in recent times, the rapper believes it is important to keep promoting the music.
As to what he is anticipating to achieve from the event, he said "I just want to give people excitement, I want to put artistes on the stage, I want musicians to get to play, I want +233 to make money…"
Meanwhile, the Rap Doctor has assured that all is set for this year’s Hip Life Party, which comes off on Sunday, December 25, 2022. The party features musicians including Kwabena Kwabena, Tinny, Edem, and Abochi, among others.
