President Akufo-Addo has joined many other prominent Ghanaians to share his New Year’s goodwill message.
After a rather tumultuous year, characterized by great economic upheavals and political pressure, particularly for the President and his administration, the advent of the New Year, the President says, promises to be a good one.
In a short message to Ghanaians, he said, “Happy New Year. Wishing you, my Fellow Ghanaians, a Happy and Prosperous New Year. 2023 promises to be a good one for our country.”

Following Ghana’s successful securing of a Staff-level agreement with the IMF, it is expected that the country will receive Executive Board approval early in the first quarter of 2023.
This will support the government with a $3billion dollar facility spread over three years.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians have been urged through the 2023 Budget to gird up their loins for drastic austerity measures and sacrifices to support the country’s economic recovery.
The commencement of the New Year automatically activates the 2.5% VAT rate hike as contained in the 2023 Budget and a total freeze on public sector employment.
