The World Boxing Council (WBC) has made a decision on the next step for Ghanaian boxer, Isaac Dogboe.
The council has ordered Dogboe to fight Filipino boxer, Mark Magsayo in a featherweight title eliminator. The winner of this match will be in a strong position to challenge for the featherweight belt.
Dogboe, a former WBO junior-featherweight title holder, has earned this opportunity with a strong performance in his previous bout where he defeated Joet Gonzalez in a split decision in July 2022.
“The WBC hereby orders the start of the free negotiations period pursuant to the WBC Rules and Regulations for the final eliminator between Isaac Dogboe and Mark Magsayo in the featherweight division,” the WBC president said.
“If there is no agreement between parties, the WBC will conduct a purse offer on Tuesday, January 31 at the WBC headquarters in Mexico City under the WBC Purse Offer Procedures.”
The location and date of the bout will be announced later when the two boxers reach an agreement.
