Ghana’s celebrity tailor and actor Elikem Kumordzi, in his quest to set the record straight about his recent Instagram post against Sarkodie, has stated that he would have done the same thing if it was Jay Z.
Sarkodie recently shared stills from the video shoot for his hit song "Country Side," featuring Black Sherif.
Upon seeing the photo and noticing something wrong with the tailoring of Sarkodie’s outfit, Elikem reposted the photo on his main Instagram page, blaming Sarkodie’s tailor for doing a dreadful job with the design.
This caused a stir on social media as users attacked him for making a distasteful comment about the rapper’s outfit.
Speaking to Ibrahim Ben Bako on Prime Morning, Thursday, Elikem stated that he made a similar post a few years ago on designers' fashion mistakes, but people did not react in this manner.
He believes that the only reason the post has made waves is because Sarkodie is a big name in Ghana.
He counters that by also saying that he would do the same thing if it was Jay Z.
"I know what being famous and fame comes with, and like I am saying, it’s only because it was Sarkodie that it got this much traction. Otherwise, I’ve made the very same post about another tailor before, some two years ago. No one said anything. No one came at me but for the simple fact that it’s Sarkodie. I mean, truth be told, it's Sarkodie, yes, but I would do the same thing with Jay Z," he said.
The Celebrity Tailor also stated that he did not make the post to trend, but only acted on his designer instincts after he recognized a fashion glitch.
"People do this, you know what I am saying, and I am not saying that I wanted to jump on a trend to trend, but I just saw a fashion flaw and I stated it. "And if anyone wants to take anything away from this, especially tailors, I'm just pointing out that this can happen to anyone."
Actor Elikem Kumordzi believes that his post was harmless, and if anything, he was looking out for Sarkodie and the big brand that he is.
He advised that tailors take their jobs seriously to avoid such fashion flaws from occurring.
