Rapper Okyeame Kwame says he is not bothered about not being mentioned in the Hiplife Rewind Documentary.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, on Tuesday, the ‘Woara’ hitmaker gave his view on the back and forth with his colleagues concerning the BBC documentary on Hiplife.
In an interview with Andy Dosty, he said he has no problem with the omission of his name in the documentary.
“I don’t mind if my name was not mentioned in the Hiplife Rewind Documentary,” he noted.
He added, “My legacy is not attached to what BBC is doing but rather based on how I live my life today.
“What stops me from getting my phone, a $200 cordless microphone, calling my friends to come on board, telling their story, and letting my editor edit it in my favor?” he asked.
The “Rap Dacta” made it clear that there are so many stories we have as a country that are being told from the Hollywood perspective.
“It is time we stop expecting people to tell us, and rather we tell our story how it is supposed to be told, the African way.”
“If someone else who has their interest and has proven over and over again that they’re best friends with us, has done his documentary how dare we criticize his work?” he quizzed.
