Despite a winning start to her term as Black Queens head coach, Nora Hauptle still believes there is a lot to be done to get the team fully ready.
Ghana beat Senegal in two friendly games organised for the team, the latest being the 1-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium courtesy of a goal from Evelyn Badu.
The friendlies are part of preparations for upcoming tournaments after they missed out on the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup to be played later this year.
Speaking in a post-match after the last game, the German trainer said the team is still under construction with a few things left to be worked on.
“I think, all in all, in the end, we deserved this victory, we also need to give respect to Senegal. I think we had the patience also, we knew we have quality and in the end, sometimes you play not so beautiful, but you still win and this is very important," she said.
“Yes we go step by step, we still need to work a lot on our principles, the players need to find each other. We are still in the building process of this team and it is very important again, that we have friendly games.”
“We can play against different kinds of opponents, which gives us different task to fulfil then we go into the qualification series.”
The Black Queens are gearing up for the African Women’s Cup of Nations and the African Games slated for Accra in March 2024.
