The owners of wigs and cosmetics shop at Makola in Accra, Avia Hair Collections, are counting their losses as over three thousand six hundred pieces of frontal human hair and thousands of hair products have been destroyed in a fire that gutted their shop.
The incident occurred Saturday night 13th May, 2023 when no one was in the building. It took the efforts of the fire service personnel stationed at Makola to douce the fire.
The fire is believed to have started from the warehouse and spread through the ceiling to other parts of the shop destroying virtually everything.

Speaking to Joy News, the manager of the facility, Lucky Korbla said over three thousand six hundred pieces of hair products were destroyed.
"We received four sacks of frontal hair consignment from Dubai on Thursday. Each of the sacks contained 900 pieces of frontal hair. Hmm…we could not pick even one as all four sacks got burnt along with other products"
"I can tell you that we are devastated if you look at the volume of the loss", Lucky Korbla added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Korbla said they are waiting for an official report from the Ghana National Fire Service to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.
"After dousing the fire, I asked the fire service personnel what the cause of the fire was. They told us their finding would be made available in due course, so we are waiting for their report", Mr. Kobe noted.
