Defeated National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer aspirant Kojo Bonsu has issued a clarion call to the party faithful to focus on beating the government New Patriotic Party in the 2024 elections.
In a press release, he said with the internal elections, which were held on May 13, out of the way, it is time for the supporters of the party to forge ahead and focus on the big picture.
"...Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the electioneering process and the outcome of the election itself, we must now all join the rescue mission of liberating our mother Ghana from the modern-day imperialism and colonialism practised in a benevolent democracy under this NPP government.
"What is ahead of us is far bigger than any spilt milk. We cannot afford to lose any single effort going into the 2024 general elections and we must be relentless in our united pursuit of victory," he said.
The former Kumasi Mayor who polled 1.1% of the votes in the flagbearership race congratulated John Mahama who won with an overwhelming 98.9%.
"Now that our elections are over, first, I wish to congratulate John Dramani Mahama for emerging victorious at the end of the day.
"His landslide victory is a resounding and clear warning to the ruling government that the NDC together with millions of disappointed floating voters shall cause change at the polls in December 2024," Kojo Bonsu said.
Discouraging party faithful against holding grudges after the internal politics, he clarified that he had ran a clean campaign.
"Since the official opening of the campaign period, my team and I have run a decent, clean and honest campaign devoid of insult, malice and acrimony. If there has been any negative press attributed to my campaign, then it has been the handicraft of propaganda operators," he said.
Mr Bonsu called on former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffour, who withdrew from the flagbeareship race to bring his ideas on board for the NDC to win power.
"...I also call on my senior comrade, Dr Kwabena Duffour to consider the great value he adds and to join forces with the party for us all to wrestle power from the nation-wrecking NPP," he said.

Two years ago, I started a journey to take on greater responsibility in the leadership of our party. I availed myself to our party delegates across this nation to be voted for as the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
I together with my team travelled to every nook and cranny of this country, meeting with key stakeholders to share my dreams, visions, messages and thoughts with them.
Since the official opening of the campaign period, my team and I have run a decent, clean and honest campaign devoid of insult, malice and acrimony. If there has been any negative press attributed to my campaign, then it has been the handicraft of propaganda operators.
