FA President, Kurt Okraku, has sent a warning to political opponents who are “after” him, indicating he has what it takes to "defame" them.
Four days before the FA’s Congress, FIFA received a petition from a whistleblower to investigate the GFA president for forgery and falsification, conflicts of interest, abuse of position, duty of loyalty and manipulation of football matches.
All these allegations are against FIFA’s codes of ethics, and the petitioner has called for the suspension of Okraku.
The GFA will hold its election in October 2023.
“What we all forget is by virtue of where I sit, I hold files to everybody who has worked in the football ecosystem. I can use same to defame and malign people, and most importantly tarnish the image of Ghana football.
“But that is not the way and I would not do that,” Kurt Okraku said at GFA’s Congress, four days after the petition to FIFA was submitted.
Nomination fees for the FA’s presidential elections have been increased by 900%.
Kojo Yankah and former GFA vice president, George Afriyie have announced their bids to unseat Okraku as president.
