On Thursday, October 19, the stage is set for a riveting showdown as nine schools compete in the semi-finals of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), promising to deliver one of the most thrilling competitions to date. 

These schools will be vying for a coveted slot in the finals, scheduled for Tuesday.

Among the contenders, five have already claimed the title of NSMQ champions. 

Presec Legon, with an astounding seven-time victory record, is the reigning champion. Prempeh College is a five-time winner, and Achimota School, Opoku Ware School, and Mfantsipim School have two titles each under their belt.

These schools are determined to prove their mettle once again.

Wesley Girls SHS, Keta SHS, and St Louis SHS bring their experience and ambition to the semifinals. Notably, St Louis SHS is making its first appearance in the semi-finals in 13 years where they hope to make a historic first appearance in the grand finale.

The first match of the day will see Wesley Girls SHS, Achimota School, and St Louis SHS going head-to-head, promising fierce competition from the very start.

The second match will feature Opoku Ware School, Pope John Seminary, and Prempeh College, ensuring a high-stakes battle - especially since Ashanti Region's biggest rivals are facing off against each other.

For Opoku Ware School, it’s time for revenge as Prempeh already has a double on them in the Kumasi derby.

In the final match of the day, Keta SHS, Mfantsipim School, and Presec Legon will clash in a contest that is sure to keep spectators on the edge of their seats.

Ketasco hopes to wipe the tears of the last two years when they lost to Presec in the final. It’s a revenge match for them as well.

Though nine schools have earned their place in the semi-finals, only three of them will secure their spot in the final match scheduled for October 24, 2023.

The NSMQ excitement continues to build as the nation eagerly awaits the outcome of these intense battles.
