USA 4-0 Ghana: Jerome Opoku makes Black Stars debut in game to forget

Istanbul Basaksehir defender Jerome Opoku made his first appearance for the Black Stars as they played the United States of America on Wednesday.

The centre-back was given a starting berth alongside Nicholas Opoku in the heart of defence as part of six changes Chris Hughton made to the team that faced Mexico last weekend.

The left-footed player looked unsettled in the opening 45 minutes of the game as Ghana conceded four goals against the Americans.

Opoku was forced into an error which led to Folarin Balogun scoring the third goal of the encounter at the Geodis Park.

Despite the troubling first-half performance, the defender looked settled in the second period of the game with Ghana not allowing any more goals.

Opoku played the entire duration of the game.

The 25-year-old was handed a late call-up to the team following injuries to Alexander Djiku and Daniel Amartey.
