Mfantsipim School has been eliminated in the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) in a nail-biting contest against the defending champions, Presec Legon.
The Cape Coasters put up a fierce performance, giving the record seven-time winners a run for their money. But it wasn’t enough.
The iconic red and black-clad boys were outwitted by the ‘Blue magicians.’

But Mfantsipim is not going home alone. Their allies, Wesley Girls SHS, were also eliminated earlier in the day.
Keta Senior High and Technical School also put up a strong showing and were in it until the final moments of the clash.
In the end, their class was also insufficient to stop PRESEC from a chance at a successful title defence.

For PRESEC, there is a chance to clinch a record-extending eighth trophy and also extend their tally to a second successful title defence, having successfully defended the trophy in 2006 after winning the previous year.
But it didn’t come easy. This semifinal clash was particularly tough and the Legon-based giants were nearly toppled in the final round.
Mfantsipim School were trailing but quickly overtook Ketasco and sought to win the contest or at least push the contest into a tie but they were centimetres too late.
A CONTEST! A GOOD ONE!

Presec takes the last slot in the grand finale and only Achimota School and Opoku Ware School stand in their way to history.
