The Chief Executive Officer of Food 101, Ama Domiri Oduro Tamakloe, has admonished food vendors to take feedback from customers seriously and put it into practice.
Speaking with KMJ the Royal host on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning on Monday, she explained that the success of her food business is based on feedback because she listens, adjusts, and corrects her mistakes.
“I keep telling my team that when we get feedback from the branches, we shouldn’t take it for granted. When it’s good, they tell us, and when it’s not, it will come to us. So, let’s take it seriously when they tell us the food is not good,” she said.
Mrs. Tamakloe also debunked claims that one cannot sell food and ran at a loss, insisting that profit won’t be made if the food does not taste good to the purchaser.
She added that all thriving food vendors who make good daily sales have consciously built their brand for some years. She holds the view that establishing a strong brand helps in the growth of every food firm.
According to her, a food business can only become stronger after 10 years of practice and experience.
“… I made terrible mistakes that I had to learn from, but I was determined not to stop. I think that’s what helped me, and then I was doing it with my advertisement. It has to go with just one thing. Either you have support and funding on the side or your business is really strong, and before your business can get really strong, you need 10 years plus.”
Having to quit her corporate job and venture into her food business, she struggled with finances at a point but never gave up. She recounted how she lost a contract with a company within a month.
From experience, Mrs. Tamakloe encouraged her colleague food vendors to invest in building their brand, as it is major in getting customers and designing a good for the business.
