Ghana center back, Mohammed Salisu, says he is very happy to play his first game after nearly nine months out with an injury.
The 24-year-old lasted the entire game on his AS Monaco debut in a 2-1 win over Stade Rennais on Saturday.
Salisu signed for the French Ligue 1 club in the summer from Southampton but had to undergo a surgery to rectify a groin issue.
The last time he played a competitive game before Saturday’s clash was in March 2023 against Tottenham.
Speaking to Monaco’s media team after the match, Salisu said he was proud of himself.
“I am very happy to make my debut. Honestly, it’s been a long time I did not play and today I got the chance to play 90 minutes.
“I am very proud of myself. I am very happy for the journey; it’s been a difficult journey but at the end, I made my debut today so I am very happy.
“For me it was an amazing feeling, you know. Everyone was happy for me. I’m very grateful for the support from everyone.”
