The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Mahama, has congratulated the newly-elected Assembly and Unit Committee Members.
In a post on X on Wednesday, December 20, Mr Mahama urged them to actively contribute to the country's development.
He reiterated his commitment to pay them an allowance if elected in the 2024 general elections.
I exercised my civic responsibility as a Ghanaian by voting in Tuesday’s district-level elections at the Bole District Assembly polling station.

Mr Mahama emphasised the significance of Assembly and Unit Committee Members in the governance structure, urging that their roles be taken seriously.
"Congratulations to all who participated in the exercise. And to our newly elected Assembly Members across the country, let me remind you that we all have a responsibility to contribute and ensure that we get our decentralisation right."
"I remain committed, when voted as the President of Ghana in 2024, to begin paying allowances to all Assembly Members to help them carry out their duties," he posted on X.
