It is yet another season of Joy Prime’s Big Chef, and the main battle of young chefs has hit your television screens once more.
The third edition of Big Chef is finally here. Hundreds of children between the ages of 8 and 14 sent in their entries following the opening of applications.
Thirty were shortlisted to prove their inclusion in a face-to-face audition with the season’s judges, Chef Jiji and Chef Kofi Agyekum.
Each of the qualified kids delivered the best culinary dexterity in the execution of the day’s task to book a slot on the final 12 list.
Based on the challenge, all contestants creatively garnished already-cooked dishes to the admiration of the judges.
Marvelled as they were, the judges commended the performance of the children and shared their anticipations for the main contest.
“Big Chef, third edition, is going to be very great because I see a lot of confidence and eloquence. I see the kids are prepared for the show.
"Also, I see a few of them who will compete against each other. The two ladies who came to dance, I enjoyed seeing them dance together, and also loving and joining cooking with dancing is going to be fun,” Chef Jiji assured.
Chef Agyekum, who also gave his remarks on the kids’ presentations, said, “So far, what I’m seeing tells me that we have a future as young chefs because looking at these kids.
"What they were able to present tells me that our kids have a bright future when it comes to the culinary aspect of the chef business.
"Some of them were able to exhibit their confidence level when it came to the presentation of the food. Some of them were able to express themselves very well.”
All 30 contenders have justified their culinary prowess, and the judges have passed their remarks based on their observations.
However, who among the kids will make it to the final twelve and battle it out for the grand prize and bragging rights as Ghana’s youngest chef?
Watch the season’s battle with the host, Michelle Agyekum, and the judges to witness the transformation of whoever qualifies for the show every Sunday on Joy Prime.
