Former Deputy Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has lauded the technological achievements of former President John Dramani Mahama.
He stressed that Mr Mahama’s legacy in digital infrastructure is unmatched, citing his forward-thinking approach and substantial investments in the sector.
In a presentation on NDC360 on Wednesday, May 22, Mr Ofosu highlighted that Mr Mahama's administration funded the development of a 1000km rural fibre network.
This extensive network stretches from Accra to Bawku, connecting six regions - Greater Accra, Volta, Oti, Northern, North East, and Upper East - 26 districts, and over 100 communities.
Additionally, Mr. Ofosu noted that Mahama invested in a 300km radius metro fibre network covering Accra and Tema.
This infrastructure can provide WiFi and other ICT services to millions of Ghanaians and businesses within the metropolitan area.
These investments, according to Mr Ofosu, underscore Mr Mahama's commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure, which has had a lasting impact on connectivity and technological advancement in the country.
“An LTE/4G network with over 119 base stations across the length and breadth of Ghana, to provide internet services and network backbone support to all government agencies (Ministries, Departments, Districts, etc),” he said.
