A man who inflicted cutlass wounds on his pregnant wife has been remanded in prison custody by the Magistrate Court at Dambai, in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.
Ibrahim Anas, the 42-year-old suspect, would reappear before the court on June 14, at Dambai.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector S.K. Gavor told the court, presided over by Mr Dramani Alhassan, that the suspect on May 28, inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on his wife on a farm at Banda in the Krachi Nchumuru District.
The court heard that the police at a checkpoint at Banda received a distressed call that a woman was screaming for help in the bush.
Chief Insp. Gavor said when the police arrived at the scene,they found the victim in a pool of blood.
The prosecution said the police also realised the victim was also bleeding from wounds on her stomach, forehead, mouth, shoulder and hands.
Chief Insp. Gavor said the victim was rushed to the Banda Health Centre and later referred to Kpandai Polyclinic in the Northern Region.
The court heard that the suspect was apprehended and handed over to police and his caution statement was extracted.
According to prosecution, Anas admitted committing the crime, saying he was influenced by “satan and his fallen angels”.
