Mfantsipim and Edinaman Senior High School were crowned men's and women's champions, respectively, of the 32nd Central Region Schools and Colleges Athletics competition held from June 20 - 21, at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The 2024 edition had 78 second-cycle institutions compete for honours in the region’s track & field event over two days.
Mfantsipim were powered by two junior national athletes Francis Liberty Fantavie and Joseph Andoh Kwofie.
Long distance runner Sako Mohammed also aided their quest with gold medals in 800m, 1500m and 5000m

The Kotokuwura-based institution won a total of 20 medals; 10 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze to amass 168 points; 59 more than second-placed Adisadel College who had two gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze.
Aggrey Memorial Zion SHS were third with 62 points (2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze).
For Edinaman, it was their first-ever regional athletics title and they did that with 149 and had their long jumper Abigail Aboagye set a new record with 5.34m.

Efutu Senior High Technical School was second with 120.5 points and they wowed the crowd by winning more gold medals (six). The third position went to Sammo Senior High School which had 73 points.

Just like last year, the best athletes in both divisions remained the same; Naseera Quansah of Sammo SHS, a junior national athlete, was the best women's athlete after setting three records [400m-56.20s-, 200m -23.30s- and 100m-11.20s-]. She won gold with the 4x200m- 1:45.60s- and 4x400m-4:05.20s- relay teams.
Mfantsipim’s Joseph Andoh Kwofie set records in 100m- 10.10s- and 200m-20.30s. The junior national athlete won the 4x200m and 4x400m races.
