The Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) has launched the Mfantsipim 150th Anniversary Awards Scheme to recognise individuals and institutions whose contributions have significantly impacted Ghana's development.
The initiative, launched on May 29, forms part of activities commemorating the 150th anniversary of the historic school and aims to celebrate excellence, leadership and service across various sectors of national life.
The awards will honour achievers in academia, governance, entrepreneurship, technology, business, the arts and public service, among others.
Speaking at the launch, Chairman of the 150th Anniversary Planning Committee, Captain John Yamoah, said the awards are designed to preserve Mfantsipim’s rich legacy while motivating future generations to pursue excellence and national service.
“The awards initiative seeks to preserve and promote the core values that have defined Mfantsipim for the past 150 years — leadership, discipline, integrity, excellence, service, and commitment to nation-building,” he stated.
According to the organisers, the awards scheme will feature several categories aimed at recognising both alumni and individuals who have distinguished themselves in various fields.
The Distinguished and Emerging Leaders category will honour forerunners and accomplished alumni whose achievements have enhanced the reputation and image of Mfantsipim over the years.
Another category, the Pan-Industry Awards, will celebrate individuals associated with the school who have excelled across diverse sectors of the economy and contributed meaningfully to national development.
The Education Awards category will recognise teaching and non-teaching staff whose dedication and service have contributed significantly to Mfantsipim and the broader development of secondary education in Ghana.
In addition, the MOBA Special Awards will honour old boys who have championed the school's values, vision and reputation both in Ghana and abroad.
Organisers say the awards scheme reflects Mfantsipim's longstanding commitment to leadership development and nation-building, values that have shaped generations of students since the school’s establishment in 1876.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 31, 2026.
Nominations for the various categories have been opened to the public through the official awards portal:

Organisers are encouraging the public to submit nominations for individuals and institutions whose work exemplifies excellence, integrity and service to society.
